Too good to be true? That's what customers of Flatbelly Veg think when they frequent Joshua Black's stand in the Flourtown Farmers Market. Delicious smoothies that are good for you? What?

11 years ago, overweight with diabetes and low self esteem, Joshua made a change to his diet. Simple yet effective, the transformative power of whole plant foods helped him shed 70 lbs and cleanse himself both mentally and physically. Once he saw what was possible, he came up with a mission: "Encourage others to embrace good health for themselves, the community and the planet." He did this first, by creating a community education tool disguised as a food truck and then additionally with a stand in the Flourtown Farmers Market where he has many fans. So stop on by and pick up a smoothie, a bowl, a wrap, a panini or some soup. You won't be disappointed and your body will thank you!

Kombucha? What's that? It's a fermented beverage that starts with a sweet tea base. It's slightly sweet, tangy, and effervescent all while being high in B vitamins, minerals, and probiotics. Best part is, the low sugar and calorie content make it a healthy alternative to soda.

Bernadette Coady is the owner of Inspired Brews, a small-batch kombucha fermentary located in the Flourtown Farmers Market. Ryan Bolton is both her brother-in-law and business partner. They've been friends for years. After the Philadelphia-based Inspired Brews business where Bernadette worked, closed its doors in 2020, Ryan and Bernadette got to talking. They decided to combine her brewing skills and his business prowess and go in on this "boochventure" together. What better place for Inspired Brews to call its new home than Flourtown, where she grew up?

Inspired Brews uses all organic ingredients to infuse their small-batch kombucha. Offered in a variety of delicious flavors that highlight local and seasonal produce they brew their booch to be more approachable than some brands you might find in the grocery store. Their bestsellers are "The Doctor," which is a blend of apple, lemon, ginger, and chlorophyll, and "Gingery," brimming with fresh, spicy ginger. Some seasonal flavors to enjoy this summer are Rose Gold (raspberry, pineapple, and rose petal), and Blueberry Mojito (New Jersey blueberries, mint, and lime).

If kombucha still seems a bit of a mystery you, stop by for a sample; Bernadette and Ryan would love to meet you!
